Khadeejeh’s young daughter Bushra was so ill she was “like a dead person” before she began receiving medical treatment for her kidney problem. Bushra needs dialysis three times a week but it’s difficult for her and her moth to travel from their home in the West Bank to the August Victoria Hospital in East Jerusalem because they must cross many army roadblocks to receive this essential treatment. The Lutheran-run hospital literally goes the extra mile for patients like Bushra. It arranges travel permits for them and sends a bus to pick them up near their homes.
“These permits helped us a lot,” says Khadeejeh. “Thanks to the treatment she received, she’s now able to go to school with the other children.”
Give the gift of life to a child battling kidney disease. The Augusta Victoria Hospital in the Holy Land is the only facility in the West Bank that has a paediatric dialysis unit. Your gift could also support bus service and accommodation costs for patients who face challenges in travelling for this life-saving treatment. Give the gift of dialysis for a child.
