O God, you are a brooding hen who is concerned for her chicks, and does her utmost to nurture and protect them from all harm. Brood over us, for though we resist your love and grace, we are actually desperate for your care and nurture in our lives. We struggle to support our families, we worry about all of the changes happening in the world and we wander looking for answers, unsure of where to turn. Turn our hearts to you, O God. For in you we have a future with hope, in you there is a love greater than any we can know in our earthly life, and in you there is security and reassurance in this life and in the life to come. In Jesus’ name, we pray that all may know the depth of your love and concern. Amen.
Gospel: Luke 13: 31-35 I have desired to gather Jerusalem as a hen gathers her brood
