God of peace, in our human experience war seems to be an ever-present reality. The sacrifice of military servants, the collateral damage in civilian life, weighs heavily on our hearts as we remember, and as we pray for a day when war is no more.
Give leaders hearts for peace and justice, for respect and dignity for all over whom they exercise authority. Give us hearts and minds and spirits that seek justice. Help us to love kindness.
And by your Spirit, enable us to seek your way of grace and mercy, healing and reconciliation. In the name of Jesus, we pray.
Many thanks to Rev. Annemarie MacIntosh (Abundant Life Lutheran Church, Winnipeg) for contributing this week’s prayer.
