Hiba, a four-year-old Jordanian girl, giggles and squirms in her mother’s arms. She has cerebral palsy, and can’t walk or speak.
But she is benefitting from your support. Hiba has received the gift of a wheelchair.
That wheelchair was one of several pieces of donated medical equipment included in our recent We Care aid shipment for people affected by the war in Syria. All items in these shipments are made available to those in need through your generosity.
Up until this summer Hiba did not have a wheelchair, making it difficult for her mother, Rada, to even leave the house. The young girl needs constant care and she is getting too big for Rada to carry.
This gift will make a big difference to Hiba and Rada, allowing them to move about much more easily.
As the war in Syria rages on, your support is needed more than ever. You can continue to make a difference in the lives of children who are made vulnerable by the war.
You can help protect Syria’s children
More than 50 per cent of Syria’s refugees are children, traumatized by the civil war that has left many without homes, family members and social support from friends and extended family. It is crucial that we help this generation of young people cope. When you give, you support schooling, child protection services, safe places to play, and mental health and social support services for children and adults in the Za’atari refugee camp in Jordan.
As well, your donations will provide shoes, clothes and hygiene kits to the most vulnerable people, including those who are chronically ill or disabled, pregnant women and mothers with infants.
“The people we work with hope for an end to the conflict so that they can go back and begin rebuilding their homes and lives. The longer this conflict lasts, the higher the toll on every person, especially children and youth,” says Roland Schlott of The Lutheran World Federation, our partner in Za’atari.
