The KidFEST (Sunday School) at Messiah Lutheran in Camrose, Alberta, has successfully completed a One Community project for Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR). From monies collected through regular Sunday offerings, the children selected items to purchase for their community. Their choices included two pairs of goats, a flock of chickens, teacher training and a garden.

“To keep the congregation informed about the project, a letter was sent to all parents,” reports Marlys Sorenson, Children’s Ministry Coordinator at Messiah. “We prayed that students and families would be touched by these needs and feel led to contribute additional items.”

Indeed they were. In addition to the $500 raised by KidFEST students, an additional $8,000 was donated. This was more than enough to completely outfit a symbolic community.
